The Lion King: Watch the first trailer for Disney’s remake of a classic

The first trailer for the upcoming Lion King remake is here!

With an incredible all-star cast that includes the likes of Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Alfre Woodard and Beyoncé, 2019’s photorealistic animated remake of The Lion King will certainly have a great set of voices for its characters.

Now, though, we’ve got our first glimpse of just what the film will look like. Helmed by Jon Favreau, who previously directed The Jungle Book for Disney, the bits of the film shown off in this first teaser trailer are highly impressive.

We see much of what we know will be the opening parts of the film, with a James Earl Jones voiceover and ‘The Circle of Life’ playing in the background. This is a trailer that is designed to get you nostalgic and thinking of those childhood memories. And it works. The Lion King looks stunning in what we can see of it, and with Jones returning and both Hans Zimmer and Elton John returning to deliver the soundtrack, it feels like it has some much-needed connections to the beloved classic. This is a great teaser trailer, and I for one am excited to see more of the film.
